Hi,

I was wanting to create a windows program, but i want it to have a custom look, sought of like a 'skin', i don't want it to look like a window, but like a shape for example.

Could anyone tell me how to go about doing this, and where to get started?
Would i need to learn Win32 api?
I would prefer to do it in C rather than C++.

Any help would be great,
Thanks,
lukazoid.

I suggest you learn Win32 API. You'll really learn how it all works. Somethings can be hard in Win32 API, but you get a lot of power.

As for the custom look, its not all that hard. You'll need to get a bit map, create a region, and custom draw all the controls.

Can be a bit furstraiting at first, but we'll help you through it.

thanks for your help.
So if i want the entire user interface to be custome, do i need to draw each button, and the background as separeate bit maps?
What exactly is a region,- is it a C++ object?
Would the Win32 api be easier to do in C or C++?

Thanks again!
