You can still buy legit copies of VB6 or Visual Studio 6 all over the place online.
If you go shopping, shop carefully! Since it's a discontinued item, some places have VS6 on sale for less than you'd pay for the standalone VB6.
For example... this place sells it at its original price of $935 (ouch! considering VS2005 pro is nearly 300 bucks cheaper there)
http://www.marketwarehouse.com/micvisstudpr.htmlIn my opinion, MS made a mistake when they named their new product "VB". For one thing, it makes it incredibly hard to find information on their site, as well as others.
For another, the beginners have a hard time determining exactly why the code they just downloaded doesn't work at all in their IDE... I mean, after all, it *is* VB, right?
MS doesn't help the matter, leaving their obsolete dotNet samples available for download.
They really should take some time, get off the beta bandwagon for a while and write some decent sample code, using their latest development tools.
