Hi, am looking to learn basic commands/codes like "always on top" make prog into and outro by entering the screen or leaving the screen from one side. small things like that. I have messed with this years ago and want to get back involved... i wana know how i can get modules with codes that are interesting to a beginner like myself. Thanks,

Mike

Well first of all, don't waste your time learning visual basic 5. The industry is well past that into VB.NET. You can download a free compiler for .NET called Visual basic.net 2008 express edition. You can download it from the Microsoft site. I just didn't want you to go through all the hard work of learning a very obsolete version. That version hasn't been in wide use since about 1998 or so.

Plus you want to learn the right stuff now instead of having to throw away half of what you learned to go to .NET. There are BIG differences between the two versions.

Once you get that express edition installed, we can then help you with learning more about it. Good luck with the quest. smile.gif

Though... if you are like me you have a computer that is just too old to run the new visual studio at any reasonable speed. -- people always assume that everyone has a decent modern computer.

I would suggest tracking down an older version of the MSDN library.

You can find a lot of information on VB4/5/6 at vb.mvps.org. in the "Classic VB" sections.
