Spectate Swamp Desktop Search is NOW Open Source.
This simple 10,000 line Visual Basic 5 program does
it all. With lots of room for improvement.

Any takers?

The first code snippets got me in trouble, for poor coding practices.
but it is dirt simple and works just fine.

Desktop Search Open Source Code - early offer.

visit the above site and request the source code.

Lots of discussion on Desktop Search at this MicroSoft Board.

Next month the code will be posted on many open source sites
If it isn't there already!

Still lots of the early release 50 copies left.
(less than 10 emailed out)

Come and request your source - Desktop Search is fun.

Cheers
Spectate Swamp

This is just a question on my mind, but...why would you bother delaying the release? Why not just put it up on a few download sets at the get-go and let everyone use it as they wanted to, without having to wait a month?

I wanted to give the first few takers a little jump on the rest.

Could be the source is already available elsewhere.

I need to get a list of some of the more popular Open Source site.

I can kinda see were you are going with it but I would suggest just release it as a Alpha, Beta, or RC (release candidate) (depending on what stage it is in) to everyone. That way you can get feed back as your update/correct issues in the code allowing for less time correcting errors after the final release.

The code will probably be on open source sites in a week.
(I'll post it here as well)

It seems few people realise the importance of Desktop Search.

The ones that are interested are really interested.

Thanks for the reply
