I think the term im after is tree structure. I have a folder on my desktop which inside resides other folders and files etc. What i would like to do is create an app that has a "tree pane?" Im not sure if that is the right term anyway. I can build the GUI part but i was curious if there were any methods of taking a structure and redisplaying it in a pane. I'm after the same sort of structure that you have in regedit where the structure is down the left of the window. I hope i have explained myself well enough.

thanks

Yes this is entirely possible. If you are using a pre-built component from a RAD-IDE like Visual Studio .Net or Kdevelop to display files this can be done in a snap. If you are going to build a GUI component yourself, or you need to build it yourself because you are not displaying files this could be a very big job.
