Was curious what your experiences with both are. So far I have used MySQL, Access, SQL Server, but not PostgreSQL. What do you guys think? MySQL or PostgreSQL? I know the common comparisons listed on articles but I'd rather hear real experiences from people who done both. Here's an interesting article comparing the two:

I use both at work - mysql for basic data in a flat design, postgresql for relational data.

I prefer postgresql - it is a more advanced database with features which mysql is just beginning to support. That said, most people are fine using mysql.

from what i hear, until you get to the point where your constantly pulling 100 simultaneous queery's, mysql is fine, but once you reach that, your gonna have to move up to postgresql, because your db will become excruciatingly slow (flashkit.com anyone...)

I use mysql for the majority of my personal projects, I like it fine... PostgreSQL is a wonderful DBMS but I find that testing on unix is a bit to intensive for my personal experiments so I don't use it as much is I should...

Overall I would rate Oracle 9i top of my list, the number of thing you can do with it is amazing, I never get tired of finding news uses for it... I doubt I will ever come close to mastering it either.

I did use just mySql. But the latest web site i'm working on requires postgresql, i getting to terms with it....seems ok, one 'niggeling' (annoying) thing is, I can't find a decent web interface/shell etc for postgresql, the one i have has plenty of bugs.

Does anyone know of a half decent web interface/shell for postgresql ??

im using phpPgAdmin 2.4-1
