I know there are alot of skilled programmers in the forums, but i was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to get into contact with 3d modelers, soundFx creaters, script writers and so on.

I remeber when i was a kid i had tones of ideas for games, arnt there people who wanna create games but dont have the know how, or modelers who want to make models for games.

Yes i have googled. and found squat, all modelers seem to be into CGI. i havnt found much in the way of low poly modelers. except in bundle packs that are pre-made for purchase. what would be greate is on the fly creative individuals.

The thing is modeling for games is so easy (I only know blender) so I assume there would be heeps of people who would do it.

Personally i think its just a huge waste of time creating all the reasources for a game, and programming it. When things could get done so much faster.

you might wanna get in touch with colleges who do game design courses, i am doing the game system programming side at my college but there are a lot of modellers who i think would really enjoy working on games. you have to make sure you get the right people because a lot of them have only been modelling really high poly things for animations.

but if they can model to a good degree then they should be able to tone it down a bit, i had one of the 3d students from my class make the character for my game and it turned out great, i also have a 3d student very interested in animation working on the animation side of things. And if there models do turn out stupidly high poly then you can reduce them in maya until they are realistic in poly count, which is what i ended up having to do.

a really high poly model that has near perfect geometry and topology doesnt lose much during this process, a lot of 3d students will model anything and i think theyd be especially pleased to see there models moving in game in real-time, i know the people i worked with did smile.gif

so ring/email some local colleges im sure youll find the right person for the job, most have noticeboards so students interested can get in touch with you.

hope thats of some help, for professionals i dont have a clue :s

I've actually made a 3D character model of Aura (a previous character for my projects) in low polygons, and I'm sure there's a better way than literally vertex by vertex, polygon by polygon.

Just hang around here for a "I want to make a MMORPG but have never used a computer before" thread to pop up.

...oh, you want to make good games?

Edit: Your avatar makes me want to watch X-Men.

I currently have a very simple game that can support 3d models:
Tower Defence - Webstart Demo

I made a few of the models, and the rest i coonverted from md2 files. They dont follow any theme, as they are just place holders for the proper models

"The thing is modeling for games is so easy"

That isn't really true. Making low poly models that still look good can be tricky. Finding a good artist isn't that easy, so it helps a lot to have the project already started and something to show for it.

A couple good places to check for them is on the gamedev.net forums Help Wanted section, or even better, an art community like Conceptart.org or deviantart. They take offense at people coming in with nothing done on a project and asking for artists though, so be prepared to show that you are invested in the project as well.
