(Not sure if this post goes in Game Programming, Software Development, or here...)

I posted this once in an online game forum and was pretty much surrounded with what people liked about Final Fantasy games. A year later, I am still in the planning process with my spiffy 2D Engine, but have been more productive due to being out of school and having more time to dedicate to my dream project.

So now I am trying to gather opinions. There are a slough of indie MMORPG game running around the net...most have the same functionality and style. Deciding which one to play now depends on what people you want to play the game with in most cases (for me atleast).

With the engine I am designing, the only thing I have right now that stands out is a unique questing/storyline feature that I am still trying to shell out some specifics on. Trying to come up with ideas for various features to implement is leaving me short of ideas since I really don't play games as much as I would like.

Not only will this give me some ideas, but other developers here on great features that would be good to implement.

Now to the questions biggrin.gif ...What would you like to see in an online RPG system? What games have you played that have had unique features/functions that stood out to you and kept you addicted around.

This can be anything from a unique money system, to user-customizable features...the possibilities are endless. One thing I am interrested in finding/developing is a unique stat system. After a year I am still not finding anything, not even from friends who play tabletop RPG systems.

All ideas welcome no matter how large or small they are.. biggrin.gif

I was gonna move this, but I think it's best suited in a slightly more generic forum such as this one.

Besides, you want the opinions of everyone, not just the meanies in the game programming forum wink2.gif

FINAL FANTASY FTW!

Yeah, I was kinda shooting for a more generalized approach, but with gaming in mind (hence the first sentence). Programming ideas would suit, but so would gaming, theory, development, etc...

OK, I was wrong, maybe moving it would generate a few more views and/or opinions confused.gif
