First of all I'm into hardware not software so I don't know where to start.
I built a game show system that uses a basic stamp 2sx micro controller. It took me about a 2 months to get it programmed but it works great.
The system works like this:
The 3 contestant boxes have a microphone, light, button and 4" led display. The system scans for the first contestant that pushes their button first. That contestants box lights up, microphone turns on and a buzzer sounds. If they give me a wrong answer, I push a button and a buzzer sounds, turns contestants light and microphone off and they are locked out. If a correct answer is given, a sound plays, contestant light flashes, microphone turns off and the led display counts up 5 points.
I would like to make a new system using 3 17" LCD monitors. I would like the monitors for displaying each contestants name and score in a nice background while communicating through my serial port on my laptop. If a contestant rings in, I would like the software to flash their monitor or something so I know what contestant it is and if I give it a wrong or correct answer, it will update their LCD monitor with the correct score. I would also need serial out commands to control the micro controller.
Can anybody tell me where to start or is this even possible.
Thanks,
Todd
