To answer your question, look at the properties for your text box. There should be one called "PasswordChar". Set that property to '*', and every character will be displayed as a '*'. To get your text box to show text again, leave it blank.

This should be in a guide of helpful tricks/projects & tips. This sort of thing may very well be in a good VB book...but I don't have any and I'm only doing VB for a project I'm working on & I'm teaching myself as I go. However, I've come to have a lot more respect for how powerful VB can be, so I might use it a lot more in the future.
