Well I think I've messed up big this time sad.gif

I decided to make the upgrade from MyBB 1.2 to MyBB 1.4. I read the instructions in the MyBB Wiki, which say to overwrite everything by uploading the new files followed by running the /upgrade.php instead of /install.php.

However, I accidently started to uploaded the wrong files, so I cancelled to transfer - but they carried on uploading! I shut down FileZilla and deleted a few things in DirectAdmin and then started to upload again.

Unfortunately it's all a big mix now. I don't know what is 1.2 software and 1.4 and I don't know what I deleted and what I've uploaded!

Argh (screams!)

Anyway, I was wondering would it be possible to delete the WHOLE forum directory and start from scratch uploading everything of 1.4 but once installed use my database backups to return to normal. Would this work in both upgrading the software and keeping what was on my forum?

I don't want to start from scratch sad.gif Taken me 3 months just to get 9 members sad.gif This is why I'm posting this. Normally I would have just gone ahead and done it but as it's my website's life on the line I thought I better check.

Thanks!

P.S. Sorry if this is wrong forum - I'll have you know I do try my best to find the correct forum.

P.P.S. Is there anyway to change my display name?

If it's a configurable piece of forum software, your database should (hopefully) be fine - so you can delete the directory(but save your configuration file), re-upload the new version, and then add your config file and have your forum ready to go(assuming there are no database changes from the older version).
